I can't formally retract the erroneous 2.0 I gave this back in 2018, but I can say that, five years on, I've come around to this record in a big way. Quality death metal with great atmosphere without being "atmospheric" (read: boring) metal.

Ce n'est pas seulement que The obedience to authority ressemble à Autokrator : cet album pousse le vice jusqu'à jouer sur les similitudes entre les pistes elles-mêmes qui se se ressemblent parfois comme deux gouttes d'eau ("Chapter I" et "Chapter II" par exemple), à quelques nuances infimes près — être subtil ? comble de l'ironie pour Autokrator ! Les tympans sont brutalisés et la pensée asservie par un blackened death metal irrespirable, ce qui amène à voir l'aspect inhumain de la tyrannie !
